1. WHAT IS SILENT VALLEY?

Silent Valley is one of the finest private resorts in the US. It is dedicated to providing the outdoor oriented family with an unparalleled camping experience in a natural setting enhanced by the finest recreational facilities.

2. WHERE IS SILENT VALLEY?

Silent Valley is located in a mountain valley at an altitude of 3500 feet, 95 miles east of Los Angeles, in the San Jacinto Mountains. The city of Banning is 10 miles north on Interstate 10. The resort community of Idyllwild is 16 miles south on scenic Highway 243.

3. HOW DO I GET THERE?

From Los Angeles take the San Bernardino Freeway (Interstate 10) east to Banning. Exit at the 8th St. turnoff and follow the panoramic State Highway 243 approximately 9 miles, turning right on Poppet Flats Road one mile to Silent Valley.

4. WHO MAY USE SILENT VALLEY?

Only Owner/Members, their guests and affiliate members (ROD, RPI, etc.) may enter Silent Valley or use its facilities.

5. HOW LARGE IS SILENT VALLEY?

There are approximately 460 acres at Silent Valley, with 850 campsites in a wide variety of distinct areas, each having its own special advantages and each offering a different camping experience.

6. WHAT ARE THE CAMPSITES LIKE?

All are capable of accommodating various types of recreational vehicles: tents, trailers, fifth wheels and motor homes are welcome. 22% of sites are drive through. Some sites are in wooded areas, which offer a large degree of privacy; others are closer to the “action” near activity centers. Each site has a barbecue grill, picnic table, and access to sanitary refuse containers.

7. WHAT RV HOOKUPS ARE INCLUDED?

Every campsite has water and electricity. The majority of the 850 campsites have sewer connections.

8. ARE THERE ANY PROVISIONS FOR “ADULT CHILDREN”?

YES. Cards can be issued to adult children (18 years and older) for a yearly fee. (SUBJECT TO CERTAIN RULES AND REGULATIONS).

9. ARE THERE ANY DUES/ASSESSMENTS?

YES. The Board of Directors of Silent Valley Club, Inc. determines dues and assessments.

10. WHAT ACTIVITY CENTERS ARE THERE?

The Adult and Family Centers are part of Silent Valley. Silent Valley Club, Inc. operates the Village Center.

11. WHAT ACTIVITY FACILITIES ARE THERE?

A Fishing Pond, 4 Tennis Courts, Shuffleboard Court, Multi-Purpose Rooms, Basketball Court, Horseshoe Pits, Council Ring, 2 Swimming Pools, Wading Pool, Volleyball Courts, pool and ping pong tables, Miniature Golf Course, Jacuzzi, Chapel in the Woods, a Giant Sandbox and little tots playground.

12. HOW MANY ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS ARE THERE?

Silent Valley has varied activities and events available to Owner/Members depending on their interests. Among these are dances, live entertainment, bingo, parades, tournaments, contests, craft classes, pot lucks and extra special events on all holidays.

13. WHAT OTHER FACILITIES ARE PROVIDED AT SILENT VALLEY?

a. The Village Center consists of a Restaurant, Bar/Lounge, General Store (including liquor, food and non-food items), Laundromat, Administration Office, and two general-purpose rooms for activities and propane sales.

b. Adult Clubhouse including swimming pool, toddler wading pool, deck areas, locker rooms, fast food service facilities, game room, pool tables, shuffleboard, ping pong tables, lounge and saunas.

c. Family Center including Junior Olympic size pool, toddler wading pool, snack bar, tennis courts, miniature golf, outdoor pavilion, video arcade, volleyball and basketball courts plus other games areas.

d. Seven conveniently located comfort stations with hot showers.

e. Outdoor non-denominational chapel.

f. Fire Department and first aid assistance.

g. Playgrounds.

14. CAN I CAMP AT ANY OTHER PARKS ACROSS THE COUNTRY?

Yes! Upon purchase of a Silent Valley Membership you can receive an optional application for Resorts of Distinction, and Resort Parks International memberships.

15. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE PERMITTED PER CAMPSITE?

Eight individuals maximum are allowed per campsite, one RV, 2 tents, one tow vehicle, plus a car if room allows on the paved area of the campsite. No parking on dirt allowed anywhere in the park.

16. IF I HAVE EXTRA VEHICLES, WHERE DO THEY PARK? Extra vehicles must be parked across Poppet Flats Road in our overflow parking. There is no overnight parking in the park except on your registered campsite. Parking or driving on dirt is not allowed anywhere in the park. (Employee vehicles excepted)

17. MAY I INVITE GUESTS TO SILENT VALLEY?

YES INDEED! They can come with you and share your RV or your campsite with a tent. Just remember no more than eight persons per campsite. Or they may occupy another space (except for major holidays of Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and Halloween), provided:

a. Reservations are made within 48 hours of their intended visit,

b. they pay the guest rate upon entry, or guest may camp in your place, free of charge, during your guaranteed days.

18. WHAT DOES MEMBERSHIP CONSIST OF?

The membership consists of a 1/6800 of an "Undivided Leasehold Interest" for a 99-year lease that started in 1974. Each "Undivided Leasehold Interest" may be sold or willed. Once a person acquires a leasehold interest (membership) and becomes a member then yearly club dues have to be paid to cover camping expenses. In addition Owner/Members receive an overnight camping calendar which guarantees them 42 to 52 camping nights per year. You may also call toll free for additional camping on a space available basis 48 hours in advance of expected arrival time.

19. HOW LONG MAY I STAY AT SILENT VALLEY?

It is possible for a member to stay at Silent Valley for 30 consecutive days, and then they must vacate the premises for 10 days before returning to the park to camp, up to 120 days per calendar year. No permanent occupancy is permitted. However, a member may camp every weekend so long as the 30-day occupancy rule is observed.

20. WHAT DOES NON-EXCLUSIVE RIGHT OF OCCUPANCY MEAN?

It means that no member has the right, to the exclusion of all other members, to use a particular campsite for the term of the lease. Campsites are chosen by the Owner/Member or guest upon arrival at the campground on a first come, first serve basis.

21. HOW DO I MAKE RESERVATIONS AT SILENT VALLEY?

Owner/Members may call toll free 1 800-472-5601 (daily 8:30am – 4:00pm) to make a reservation. When requesting dates that are included in their “guaranteed days” of overnight camping, Owner/Members may call more than 48 hours before arrival. For other dates, Owner/Members may phone within 48 hours of arrival.

22. MAY I USE A MOTORCYCLE AT SILENT VALLEY?

There are restrictions against the use of motorcycles, dirt bikes, mini-bikes, dune buggies and the like at Silent Valley to eliminate the noise, annoyance and hazards of the use of such vehicles.

23. MAY I STORE MY RV AT SILENT VALLEY?

YES! You can store your RV at Silent Valley Club for a yearly fee. Just call the business number (951-849-4501) for information. We also have Towing Service. We will bring your RV out of storage, spot it on a site and return it to storage when you leave for a flat fee. Ten day storage and winter storage also available.

24. CAN CHILDREN USE THE ADULT CENTER?

Children are welcome at the Adult Center Snack Bar for a meal anytime it is open. They can use the Adult Center pool off season when the Family Center pool is closed. During the summer season if either pool is closed for more than 24 hours the remaining pool will be shared equally by children and adults on a 2 hour rotation to allow everyone an equal chance to swim. No one less than 18 years is allowed in the Jacuzzi or at the pool tables. Children can play ping pong and shuffleboard when accompanied by an adult.

25. CAN WE MAKE PAYMENTS ON OUR ANNUAL DUES?

Yes! If your dues are paid for the current year, you can pay for next years by the month. See Accounting for more details. If your account is past due and you want to use the park, you must make full payment in cash or credit card at the Ranger Station upon your arrival.

26. CAN A MEMBER HAVE 2 MEMBERSHIPS?

Yes, but they cannot use them back to back. The Member still must vacate the park at the end of every 30 day stay for 10 days.

27. DO YOU HAVE A SMOKING POLICY?

Yes. Smoking is not allowed in any Silent Valley Club buildings, in the Village Center during entertainment or in the pool areas.

28. DOES THE DAVIS-STIRLING ACT APPLY TO SILENT VALLEY?

No.

29. CAN WE HAVE GOLF CARTS?

Yes. The club now allows golf carts for licensed drivers with proof of liability insurance. Golf cart drivers must obey all road signs and speed limits in the park. Driving on dirt not allowed anywhere in the park. (Employee vehicles excepted).
